IEEE
(confidentially: Eye-triple-E) is a non-profit, technical professional
association of more than 377,000 individual members in 150 countries.
The full name is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.,
although the organization is most popularly known and referred to by
the letters I-E-E-E. Territorial and technical groups support the IEEE
activities. IEEE is organized in various technical
societies. The IEEE
Central-North Italy Chapter (GRS29 - CH08279)
refers to the Geoscience and Remote
Sensing Society.
The Geoscience and Remote Sensing
(GRS) Society seeks to advance geoscience and
remote sensing science and technology through scientific, technical and
educational activities. The Society strives to promote a high level of
technical excellence among its members by exchange of information through
conferences, meetings, workshops, publications, and through its committees to
provide for the needs of its members.
The GRS society annually organizes the International Geoscience And Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) which gathers more than 1500 international participants.

L’IEEE
è un associazione no-profit di professionisti composta da più da
377.000 partecipanti distribuiti in 150 nazioni. E’ d’uso indicarla col
solo acronimo che viene letto “ai-traipl-i” e che per esteso indica
l’Istituto degli Ingegneri Elettrici ed Elettronici. Sebbene
l’associazione nasca in ambito ingegneristico non è in realtà limitata
e ristretta agli Ingegneri.
L’IEEE si sviluppa mediante un organizzazione capillare territoriale e per aree tematiche.
L’IEEE è organizzata in differenti società tecniche. La Società organizza numerose conferenze internazionali ed un congresso internazionale all’anno che raccoglie un migliaio di partecipanti provenienti da tutto il mondo ed attivi nel campo dei vari aspetti teorici ed applicativi dell’osservazione della terra da satellite. La società promuove inoltre numerosi comitati e scambi culturali.
La Società organizza un congresso annullare plenario il cui
acronimo è IGARSS e che raccoglie la partecipazione di più di 1500
partecipanti da tutto il mondo..
